LAKE BLUFF – Lake Bluff’s American Legion Post 510 is sponsoring fifteen high school students from Lake Bluff and Lake Forest to attend Illinois Boys and Illinois Girls State at Eastern Illinois University this coming June.
Boys State 2017 delegates are: Emmet Brady, Jay Grieve, Ben Hans, Victor Kolcan, Brendan Manfred, Finn Michaelis, Samuel Pasquesi, David Tanna.
Girls State 2017 delegates are: Tiffany Duong, Freda Hasselbring, Madyllen Kung, Kathryn Lotharius, Lydia Puryear, Margaret Slaughter, Sarah Tiba.
As delegates to the 5-day boy’s and girl’s programs the students, all finishing their junior year in high school with a 4.3/5.0 GPA and recommended by their school counselors, will get experience in national, state and local government, meet with civic leaders, attend motivational meetings, participate in leadership and team building programs and learn to interact with new friends.
The delegates will appear in the Lake Bluff 4th of July Parade and report their program experiences to parents and Post 510 members in September, according to Post 510 Commander David Cimarrusti.
